The Health Care industry is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors of the U.S. economy. This growth has been fueled by advances in technology and pharmacology as well as by the ageing population. The occupational specialties within the health care industry are too numerous to list. Martinsburg College has identified two of the most important specializations within this industry in which to provide training:         

Medical Administration refers to the roles within the health care industry which are primarily responsible for the efficient administrative operations of a medical facility. These roles can range from a variety of positions, but all contribute to the overall health and well-being of the patient and support for the medical staff. The field of medical administration encompasses both technical aspects of health care delivery management and the social and policy issues regarding access to healthcare.

The Office of Homeland Security was created eleven days after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. The office was created with the purpose and responsibility to oversee and coordinate a comprehensive national strategy to protect the United States against terrorism and respond to any future attacks. The Department of Homeland Security became operational on January 24, 2003 approximately sixty days after the Homeland Security Act was passed. The Department of Homeland Security combined twenty-two different federal departments and agencies into one unified agency. Since its creation, the Department of Homeland Security’s scope has expanded to include Cyber security issues, natural disasters, and border security, in addition to protecting the United States against external or internal terrorist attacks.

  • GI Bill, TA, and COOL

    Active Duty and Veterans have the ability to add to their education while serving, or transitioning out of the military. Earn your education while remaining debt free. Utilize your GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, or Army Credentialing Opportunities Online.

  • MyCAA Scholarship

    The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. Spouses of service members on active duty (or Title 10 orders) in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2 and O-1 to O-2  are eligible.

  • Federal Student Aid

    Federal Student Aid Pell Grants are available to students whom qualify. They are granted on an as-needed basis. Majority of students graduate with little to no cost to them. This is a grant any student, military affiliated and non, can apply for.

  • Military Spouse Scholarship

    Martinsburg College’s exclusive scholarship that can cover the full tuition of our Associate of Science in Healthcare Administration or Associate of Science in Integrated Technologies.

    Open to all military spouses who started a qualifying certificate program at Martinsburg College on or after January 1, 2015

    • Minimum 3.0 GPA

    • Completed certificate program within nine months of start date

What Is MyCAA?

The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. The scholarship assists military spouses in pursuing licenses, certificates, certifications or associate degrees necessary to gain employment in high-demand, high-growth portable career fields and occupations. Spouses may use their My Career Advancement Account Scholarship funds at any academic institution approved for participation in the scholarship.

Who's eligible?

Spouses of service members on active duty in pay grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2 and O-1 to O-2 who have successfully completed high school and have the ability to request tuition assistance while their military sponsor is on Title 10 military orders are eligible. Spouses married to members of the National Guard and reserves in these same pay grades are eligible.
